LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - For the first time in two years there was A North Atlantic Conference tennis held at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center. Unfortunately for Lyndon, the host team, it lost an 8-1 decision to Castleton.
The Spartans would sweep all three double positions as Kyle Martin and Andrew Overton defeated John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Newburyport, Mas.) 8-4 in first flight doubles. The tandem of Seth Marcil and Tyler Wilcox defeated Mike Sigsbury (Pownal, Vt.) and Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) 8-4 in No. 2 doubles. Finally, in third doubles it saw the Spartan duo of Ryan Mulder and Trevor Hanna defeated Kyle Berteau (Richmond, Vt.) and Nick Agresta (Barnegat, N.J.) 8-0.
In singles action, Corey lost to Martin 6-0, 6-2 in first singles and in the second flight Updike lost to Seth Marcil 6-3, 6-0. In No. 3 singles Sigsbury lost to Overton 7-6, 7-6 and in fourth singles it saw Lyndon get its only win of the day when Hall defeated Mulder 6-2, 7-6.
In the fifth flight, Wilcox defeating Agresta 6-3, 6-4 and in No. 6 singles Hanna defeated Michael Desmond 6-1, 7-5.
With the lost Lyndon is 1-10 on the season and 1-6 in the North Atlantic Conference while Castleton is 9-5 on the season and 6-1 in the conference.
Lyndon's final match of the season is scheduled on Thursday at 3:30p.m. against rival Johnson State at the Dudley Bell Center.
