WATERVILLE, Maine – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team lost a non-conference match with Thomas College 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
The Terriers completed a sweep in doubles play as Ryan Chasse and Zachary Disch defeated Tyler Hall (Keen, N.H.) and Jake LaCerda (Gray, Maine), 8-3, on the one line. In number two action, Jared Waterhouse and Kaleb Payson took down Dylan Cherko (Manchester, Conn.) and Michael Sigsbury (Pownal, Vt.), 8-4. Ross Munn and Mark Amato finished with an 8-0 victory over Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, Vt.) and Ken Niemann (Au Sable Forks, N.Y.).
Thomas maintained control in singles play as Chasse defeated Hall in number one singles 6-0, 6-3. Munn took the win in number twos, dropping LaCerda 6-1, 6-0 while Disch fought for a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sigsbury. In number four singles, Waterhouse downed Cherko 6-2, 6-2 while Payson handed Mulligan a 6-0, 6-0 defeat. Amato wrapped up singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Niemann.
The Hornets (1-5, 0-1 NAC) head to Norwich for a non-conference match Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
The Terriers (5-4, 1-0 NAC) will return to action on Saturday, April 8 as they host conference opponent Green Mountain at 12:00 p.m.
