Hornet men's tennis falls to D2 St. Michael's

Colchester, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's tennis team stepped up in level today, taking on NCAA Division II St. Michael's College at the Tarrant Recreation Center.  St. Michael's swept the match 7-0 to improve to 3-6 on the season.  The Hornets are winless in two matches.

The Purple Eagles opened play by taking all three doubles matches to earn a point.  The Lyndon first flight team of Patrick Wickstrom (Lafayette, LA) and Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) fell to the St. Michael's team of Max Allen and Dan Foley, 6-2.  The Purple Eagles won both second and third doubles 6-0.

In singles play, Wickstrom fell to Allen 6-2, 6-1 at first, while Mulligan lost 6-0, 6-2 to Allen at second.  The Purple Eagles' Ivan Llona downed Lyndon's Zach Falkenburg (Kirkville, NY) 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles and St. Michael's captured the other three flights by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Lyndon returns to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Thomas College for a 1:00 pm non-conference match.
