Hornet men's tennis swept by Norwich

Northfield, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 non-conference decision at Norwich University on Tuesday.  The Hornets remain winless in four matches on the season, while the Cadets even their overall record at 7-7.

Lyndon's first doubles team of Patrick Wickstrom (Lafayette, LA) and Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) fell to the Norwich duo of Dylan Ackerman and Tim Birnbaum, 8-3.  The Cadets picked up 8-0 wins in both second and third doubles.

In singles play, Ackerman picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wickstrom at #1.  Zach Falkenburg (Kirkville, NY) and Abukar Hassan (Kenya) were the only other Hornets to capture a game in singles play.  Falkenburg dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Norwich's Tim Santy at #3 and Hassan fell to Abbie Barker 6-0, 6-1 at #4.

The Hornets will open up North Atlantic Conference play this weekend.  They begin with a 4:00 match aganist Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at the Bennington Tennis Center on Saturday, and follow with an 11:00 am match at SUNY Delhi on Sunday.
