Hornet men's tennis drops an 8-1 decision at SUNY Delhi

Delhi, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, in a North Atlantic conference match at SUNY Delhi on Sunday morning.  The Broncos improve to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in NAC play, while the Hornets remain winless in six starts.

Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) was Lyndon's only winner.  He downed Delhi's Christopher Balogh, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 at #2 singles.  The Hornets' first flight plyer, Patrick Wickstrom (Lafayette, LA), fell to the Broncos' Marcos Andrino in a third set tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.  The Broncos downed the Hornets in straight sets in the other singles flights.

In doubles play, Andrino and Payton Dean defeated Wickstrom and Muligan 8-3 at #1.  In second doubles the Lyndon duo of Mukhtar Sheikh Abdullahi (Mogadishu, Somalia) and Kyle Leighton (Burrillville, RI) was defeated by Balogh and Jake Robinson of Delhi 8-4.

The Hornets return to action on Tuesday when they travel to St. Michael's College for a 3:30 pm non-conference match.
