Cornell and Corrigan garner NAC Cross Country honors

Lyndonville, VT - Lyndon State College men's cross country runners Benjamin Cornell (Burrilville, RI) and Brian Corrigan (Andover, MA) were among the student athletes honored by the North Atlantic Conference when conference awards were announced on Wednesday.  Cornell received 2nd Team All-Conference recognition by virtue of his top 15 finish in the NAC Championship meet last Saturday.  Corrigan was named to the NAC Men's Cross Country Sportsmanship Team, an honor reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship Team honorees are individuals who have positively affected the sport culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity.

Cornell, a junior mountain recreation management major, has consistently been the Hornets' top runner this season.  On Saturday, he completed the 8K NAC Championship Course in 29:15, good for 13th place overall.  Corrigan, a sophomore atmospheric science major, finished 26th in the NAC Championship, crossing the finish line in 31:19.

Cornell, Corrigan, and the Hornets will race next in the NCAA New England Regionals, hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, November 11th.  Race time is set for 11:00 am.
