New London, NH - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's cross country team opened the 2018 season at the Charger Invitational hosted by Colby-Sawyer College. Freshman Anthony Pifari (Littleton, NH) kicked off his collegiate career with a strong performance by finishing 5th amongst collegiate runners in a time of 17:08 (31 total runners). Junior Benjamin Cornell (Burrilville, RI) began his senior season by placing 11th in a time of 17:35 over the 5K course. Cornell was followed by fellow senior Matt Francis (Freeport, ME) in a time of 19:34 while freshman Alexander Frei (Georgia, VT) completed the course in 20:04. The men ran incomplete today.
"Much like the women's team, the race today offered the men an opportunity to measure themselves and see where they are as a team. We certainly looked strong up front, but have plenty of work to do is we want to challenge for the our eighth NAC title in October." said Hornet head coach Chris Ummer.
The Hornets return to action on September 8th when they compete at the Mariner Invitational in Belfast, ME.
