Dartmoutn, MA - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's cross country team competed in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. The meet saw over 40 teams compete. Under unusually warm conditions the Hornets were led by freshman standout Anthony Pifari (Littleton, NH), who completed the 8K course in a time of 28:38. Pifari was followed closely by senior Benjamin Cornell (Burriville, RI) witha time of 28:39. Matt Francis (Freeport, ME) and Alexander Frei (Georgia, VT) completed the finishers for Lyndon with times of 32:46 and 34:41 respectively.
"Not a great team effort, but an important step in preparing for the end of October." said Hornet head Coach Ummer. "I felt our seniors, Ben and Matt, showed their experience with the distance and in the heat resulting in solid finishes. We continue to make little gains so all-in-all the take away from this meet is positive."
The Hornets will next be in action on September 29th when they host the Vermont State Intercollegiate Championships on the Lyndon Cross Country Course.
