Chichester's 2nd place finish paces Hornet men at Vermont State Meet

Castleton, VT - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's cross country runner Christopher Chichester (Orleans, VT) continued his strong rookie season with a second place finish at this evening's Vermont Stat Championship Meet.  The Hornets finished fourth as a team as NCAA Division II St. Michael's College took the meet championship.

Chichester covered the 8K course in 27:51, 52 seconds behind meet winner Gannon McKearin of host Castleton University.  Lyndon's Michael Bear (Colvhester, VT) narrowly missed a top ten finish, coming 11th in the field of 32 runners with a time of 30:54.  Peter Gilding (St. Johnsbury, VT) crossed the finish line in 39:32.  Matthew Sheridan (Groveport, OH) and Joseph Gonzalez-Lyons (Plattsburgh, NY) also scored for the Hornets, finishing in 43:52 and 52:35 respectively.

Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell remarked "On the men's side I saw some improvement from Chris and Mike, and the rest of the team.  We just need to gain more experience so that they get a better flow in racing."

The Hornets will travel to NVU-Johnson for a dual meet on Monday evening.  The 4K race will begin at 5:30 pm.
