Lyndon splits games at Gordon Tournament

WENHAM, Mass. – Leanna Tallamy scored 13 points and collected 15 rebounds to lead Gordon to a 47-41 victory over Lyndon in the second round of the Gordon College Tournament.

Aly Towle and Catey Marshall chipped in nine points each for the Fighting Scots and Towle dished out a team-high three assists. Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) and Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) had one double-double each for the Hornets as White had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Lawson getting 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) had two assists and four steals in the loss for Lyndon.

A day earlier, the Hornets opened their 2011-12 season on a positive note by defeating Newbury by a score of 62-50.

Lawson poured in a game-high 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds and two blocked shots while White chipped in 12 points and seven boards. Watson handed out seven assists and had six steals in the game.

Nephie Marsh had 16 points in the loss and teammate Jalissa Fields had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kendra Bannister had three assists to lead Newbury.
