Urquhart's double-double lifts Bishops to 67-57 win over Hornets

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball team picked up a 67-57 victory over Lyndon. Samantha Urquhart paced Wesleyan with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The first half saw five ties and 11 lead changes before the Bishops could pull away and forge a 12-point halftime advantage. Trailing by one point at 18-17 with just over seven minutes left in the period, Linesha Tinsley came off the bench to knock down back-to-back three-pointers to give Wesleyan a lead it would not relinquish. Tinsley's treys sparked a 21-10 run to close out the half, giving NCWC a 39-27 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Bishops shot just 29 percent from the floor, which allowed the Hornets to get as close as three points at 55-52 with 6:21 remaining. A pair of Urquhart free throws, however, put the Bishops back up by five and ignited a 12-5 NCWC run that saw the Hornets commit five critical turnovers. Wesleyan went 6-for-8 at the charity stripe during the stretch that was capped by a Tiffany Bell lay-up at the 1:23 mark, providing the final margin of victory.
Bell joined Urquhart in double figures with a team-high 13 points, while sophomore point guard Kourtney Salisbury dished out six assists. As a team, the Bishops collected 16 steals and shot a solid 73 percent at the free throw line.

For Lyndon, Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) finished with a game-high 20 points. Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets, who held a slight 43-42 advantage on the boards.
