HENNIKER, N.H. – The Lyndon women's basketball team ended its 2014-15 season with a 68-46 loss to New England College Saturday in the North Atlantic Conference finale for both squads.
With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 19-6 overall and 15-5 in NAC play. The loss drops the Hornets to 7-18 overall and 6-12 in the NAC.
NEC would build an early 10-point lead eight minutes into the game, but Lyndon would battle back clawing its way to within 26-20 with 6:47 remaining in the half. The Pilgrims would close out the half on an 11-2 run giving them a 35-22 advantage heading into the intermission.
NEC finished the game out-rebounding Lyndon 46-36 on the afternoon and caused 26 Hornet turnovers.
Leading the way for NEC was Kiley Williams, who finished with a double-double including 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Kayla Lawlor led all scorers finishing with 19 points, while Taylor Burgess finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
Lyndon was led by Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) who finished with eight points and eight rebounds, while senior Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.), playing her final game in a Lyndon uniform, finished with a team-high nine points. Fellow senior Emily Slayton (Jefferson, Vt.) chipped iin eight points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal and Britney Geoffrey (Derby Line, Vt.) had three rebounds and one assist.
