BANGOR, Maine – The Lyndon State College women's basketball team finished out their weekend trip to Maine with an 80-49 loss to Husson University Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action.
Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) recorded her tenth double-double of the season with 12 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Hornets (5-7, 3-5 NAC). Alissa Mitchell (Milton, N.H.) added eight points and seven rebounds while Mariah Ramos (Lebanon, N.H.) chipped in seven points.
The Eagles (11-1, 8-0 NAC) were led by Chandler Guerrette who finished with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Sami Ireland added 12 points off the bench.
Lyndon jumped out to a 12-6 lead with 4:24 to play in the first quarter. After Husson scored six straight points, a layup from Gabrielle Foye (Wilton, Maine) put Lyndon up 14-12 after the first buzzer.
The defensive intensity of the Eagles ramped up in the second quarter as they outscored the Hornets 18-4 to go into halftime up 30-18.
Husson's defensive pressure didn't let up in the second half as they poured in 50 points over the next 20 minutes while holding Lyndon to 31, ending the game 80-49.
The Hornets will host Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Eagles play Colby College at home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
