Lyndonville, VT - Lyndon State College senior women's basketball player Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, VT) has been named to the 2018 D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region 3rd Team. Hodge, a Sport Management major, is the first Lyndon athlete to ever be recognized by any of the D3sports.com family of websites.
The All-Region selection is the latest in a long line of acolades earned by Hodge this season. She was previously named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year and was a 1st Team All-Conference selection. Nationally, she currently ranks among the top 40 in all of Division III in nine statistical categories. Most impressively, the senior ranks second in the nation in double doubles with 25. She is also currently fifth in defensive rebounds per game (10.0), fifth in total rebounds (392), sixth in rebounds per game (15.1), 22nd in free-throw percentage (86.9), 27th in three-point field-goal percentage (41.7), 29th in offensive rebounds per game (5.0), 35th in final points (497.0), and 37th in points per game (19.1). For her career, Hodge tallied 1,448 points, 1,231 rebounds, 180 blocks, 112 assists, and 75 steals.
Hodge led the Hornets to their first winning season since Lyndon became an NCAA Division III member in 2009. The Hornets finished 14-12 overall and 10-8 in NAC play, both program bests. Lyndon qualified for the NAC Tournament for the first time since 2012-2013, earning the #5 seed.
