Mitchell and Crompton capture first NAC weekly honors of the season

Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball players Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) and Lea Crompton (Dunbarton, NH) swept North Atlantic Conference honors for the first week of the season, which ended on Nobember 11th.  Mitchell was named Player of the Week while Crompton was named Rookie of the Week as they led the Hornets to a pair of wins in the Northern Vermont University Tip-Off Classic.

Mitchell, a junior forward, scored a game high 22 points in last Thursday's 79-69 win over the College of St. Joseph.  She made six of ten shots from the floor, including all four of her three-point attempts, and added nine rebounds and five assists.  She added seven points and nine rebounds in Saturday's 59-53 come from behind win over Vermont Technical College.  Mitchell was named to the Classic All-Tournament Team.

Crompton, a freshman guard, scored 21 points, making four of eight shots from the floor and 11 of 12 free throws, against St. Joseph.  She backed that effort up with a 13 point, six rebound, six assist effort against Vermont Tech.

Mitchell, Crompton, and the Hornets open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday evening when they host Castleton University.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.
