Johnson, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball team cruised to a 71-61 North Atlantic Conference victory over NVU-Johnson on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Hornets to 9-7 on the seaason and 4-3 in NAC play while the Badgers fall to 2-15 overall and remain winless in seven conference starts.
The Hornets started fast, jumping out to a 20-10 lead after one quarter. The Badgers hung aroundm however, narrowing the deficit to just four at the half. The Hornets kept the Badgers at bay throughout the second half, settling in for the ten point victory.
Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) continued her run of outstanding games, finishing with a game high 27 points, ten rebounds, and four assists to lead the Hornets. Lea Crompton (Dunbarton, NH) added 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Alisha Celley (Cabot, VT) finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Mariah Ramos led Johnson with 17 points and Alexandra Barry chipped in ten points and eight rebounds.
The Hornets return home for a non-conference contest against Fisher College on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm.
