Green Mountain's Hannah Buffum commits to Hornet women's basketball

Lyndonville, VT - Hannah Buffum, a power forward from Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, VT, has committed to the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball program for the Fall 2019 semester.  Buffum, the first player to deposit and commit for fall, will study Exercise Science with a focus on Pre-Physical Therapy.

Buffum is a four time Marble Valley League All-League selection, earning 1st Team honors as a junior and senior at Green Mountain, 1st Team honors as a sophomore at Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend, VT, and 2nd Team accolades as a freshman at Leland & Gray.  She was selected to the Vermont Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game, and was a two-time VBCA Dream Dozen selection, identifying her as one of the top underclassmen in Vermont.  Buffum led both Green Mountain and Leland & Gray to appearances in the Vermont State Final Four.  She was also inducted into the National Honor Society at Green Mountain and the National Technical Honor Society at the Howard Dean Technical Center in Springfield, VT.

Hornet head coach Sean Lynch is looking forward to what Buffum will bring to the program.  "Hannah has the size and versatility to play multiple positions and fill many roles.  She can dribble, pass and shoot.  She's a tough competitor and her enthusiasm for basketball is contagious.  Off the court, Hannah is a hardworking student and has a fun, positive spirit.  We are very excited that she will be joining us next year."

Buffum's coach at Green Mountain, Terry Ferrell, remarked "Hannah is a hard worker who puts in extra time in the gym to work on anything she perceives as a weakness.  In addition, Hannah is all about the team, whether it's promoting team bonding or working with younger players to boost skill and self confidence.  Hannah was a pleasure to coach."

The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
