Lyndonville, VT - Shaylan Mosher, a 5'8" transfer guard from West Burke, VT, has deposited and committed to the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball program for the Fall 2019 semester. Mosher will study Elementary Education at Lyndon.
Mosher joins the Hornets after spending two seasons at Castleton University in Castleton, VT. She played in 39 games over two seasons with the Spartans, scoring 27 points with 30 rebounds, 11 assists, and eight steals. Mosher is a 2017 graduate of Lyndon Institute. As a high school senior, she led the Vikings to their first Vermont Principals' Association Division 2 Championship while averaging 11 points, four rebopunds, and three assists per game. She was the Capital League Player of the Year and a 2nd Team All-State selection.
NVU-Lyndon head coach Sean Lynch remarked "We recruited Shay when she was in High School and thought she had tremendous potential. Not only was she talented on both sides of the ball but she was an outstanding teammate and leader. She has spent the last two years competing at a high level and has become a very good college player. We are thrilled she has chosen to transfer to NVU-Lyndon and she will make a fantastic addition to our team and university."
Mosher's coach at Lyndon Institute, Eric Berry, added "Shaylan is the quintessential leader and an absolutely great young woman. As a four-year starter at point guard she proved to be one of the best, if not the best to ever play the position at LI. She led our team to the first ever state title. Above all of those attributes is what she brings to the table as a person. A great person of awesome character."
Mosher joins Hannah Buffum of Jamaica, VT, and Reilly Velez of Portsmouth, NH in the Hornets' 2019 recruiting class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
