Waterville, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's lacrosse team was defeated by Thomas College, 17-3, on Tuesday evening. The Terriers even their record at 1-1 on the season while the Hornets fall to 0-2. The matchup between the two North Atlantic Conference rivals was a non-conference game. The two schools will meet in a NAC contest on April 17th.
Thomas ran out to a 11-2 halftime advantage on the strength of four goals from Alexis Felch, three from Nikki Bradstreet, and a pair from Meredith Wheeler. Lyndon posted two unassisted goals in the opening half, one from Tori McCormack (East Lyme, CT) and one from Felisha Olmstead (St. Johnsbury, VT). The Terriers outshot the Hornets 30-6 in the opening stanza.
Thomas tacked on six more goals in the second half, while Olmstead notched her second score of the game. Felch found the net three more times for Thomas to end the night with seven goals. Bradstreet added another goal and finished the evening with three assists. Hornet goalie Zoe Pierce-Olhson (Gales Ferry, CT) stopped 15 Hornet shots, while Terrier goalies Arianna Cannistraro and Addyson Bond each made one save. Thomas outshot Lyndon 45-15 and recovered 31 ground balls to 17 for the Hornets.
Lyndon returns to action this weekend when they travel back to Maine for a pair of games. On Saturday they will be back at Thomas to face the University of Maine at Farmington at 6:00 pm, and on Sunday they will play at Maine Maritime Academy at noon. Both games will be non-conference contests, with the NAC matchups to follow later in the season.
