Hornet women overwhelmed by NAC leaders

Canton, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's lacrosse team dropped their first North Atlantic Conference contest of the season, falling 20-0 at conference leading SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon.  The Roos improve to 8-2 on the season and remain unbeated in four NAC contests.  The Hornets remain winless in six games this season.

Canton dominated the game from the onset, moving out to a 15-0 halftime lead.  The Roos outshot the Hornets, 49-0, and doubled up Lyndon on ground balls, 30-15.  Canton also held a 15-5 advantage in draw controls.  The Roos committed 18 turnovers while the Hornets committed 32.

Emily Vogt and Maryclare Bowes paced the Canton attack with three goals apiece as 13 different Roos found the back of the goal.  Molly Denny recorded four assists, five ground balls, and foru caused turnovers for Canton and Logan Bush had a game high seven draw controls.  Rachel Valentine (Clarkdale, AZ) and Michaela Columbia (Orleans, VT) picked up three ground balls each for Lyndon.  Columbia added three caused turnovers while Tori McCormack (East Lyme, CT) had two draw controls.

Hornet goalie Zoe Pierce-Olhson (Gales Ferry, CT) made 14 saves.  Nicole Piskorowski and Madison Leary combined for the shutout for Canton without being called upon to make a save.

The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Husson University for another NAC contest.  Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
