Bangor, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon dug a big halftime hole and never recovered, falling 23-2 to Husson University in Thursday's North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse game. The Eagles improve to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in conference while the Hornets remain winless in nine starts, including three NAC tilts.
Husson ran out to a 17-0 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way. Maddy Olsen led the Eagles with five goals. Mary Cushing and Jordyn Labrie added four goals each. Cushing also recorded four ground balls and seven draw controls and Ashley Cummings was credited with three assists.
Felisha Olmstead (St. Johnsbury, VT) got the Hornets on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal with 13:09 to go in the game. Bayla Stewart (Newport, VT) tallied Lyndon's only other goal, an unassisted tally with 5:53 remaining.
The Eagles outshot the Hornets 38-9 and held a 26-14 advantage in ground balls and a 16-10 edge in draw controls. Mallory Burchill got the win in goal, making four saves, while Zoe Pierce-Olhson (Gales Ferry, CT) stopped seven shots.
The Hornets are scheduled to host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm. The game will be played on the Lyndon intramural and practice field.
