Husson rallies past upset-minded Lyndon

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — In a tightly-contests match, Husson defeated Lyndon 2-1 Saturday in a North Atlantic Conference match at the Lyndon Athletics Field.

With the win the Eagles upped their record to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the NAC while the Hornets fall to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.

The Eagles controlled the play the entire game, out-shooting the Hornets 30-4. Even though the Eagles dominated play, it was the Hornets who struck first in the game. Erika Lind scored off a pass from Aitanna Greenwood at the 53:49 minute mark. It would be the only lead Lyndon would have in the game.

Nearly 18 minutes into the second half, Husson's Maddie Page tied at 1-1 with a goal past Hornet goalie Marley Harmon. The Eagles' Desir'ee Hamler sent a dagger into Lyndon's hopes of an upset, scoring the game-winning goal with less than four minutes to play. Katie Cyr drew an assist on the play.

Jess Poulin made two saves for the Eagles to earn her second win of the season while the tandem of Julianna Anderson and Harmon combined to make nine saves for Lyndon.

Lyndon returns to action tomorrow when they host Maine Maritime at 2:30p.m.
