NEC earns victory over Lyndon

HENNIKER, N.H. — The New England College women's soccer defeated Lyndon 4-0 as the Pilgrims celebrated senior day Saturday.
 
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 10-5-2 overall and 3-2-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The loss drops the Hornets to 5-12-0 on the season and 1-7-0 in the NAC.
 
NEC would strike just 13 minutes into the game as Jaycie Triandafilou would record her fifth goal of the season putting in a cross from Rachel Thomas.  The two teams would battle through the remainder of the opening half scoreless as the Pilgrims held most of the momentum on offense out shooting the Hornets 7-0.
 
The Pilgrims would tack on three second half goals, including an own goal in the 48th minute followed by senior midfielder Alexandra Hytner who would float in her second goal of the season just out of the reach of Lyndon keeper Johanna Sargent (Randolph, Vt.) in the 60th minute.  

NEC's Triandafilou would connect with her second goal of the game in the 75th minute putting in a free kick off the foot of Alexandra Hytner. NEC finished the game out shooting Lyndon 16-1 and held the 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Picking up the win in net for NEC was Tricia Sardagnola. Sargent notched six saves in net for Lyndon.
 
Lyndon returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 25 when it closes out its regular season at home against conference foe Johnson State College. Game time is 1 p.m.
