HENNIKER, N.H. – The Lyndon State College women's soccer team fell 9-0 to New England College Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference play.
Michaela Pomeroy netted three goals and added two assists to lead the Pilgrims.
New England College would waste no time getting on the board as Sara Locke would loft a shot over the keepers head just 1:46 into play. The Pilgrims would get another score in the 15th minute as Michaela Pomeroy would send a soft pass from the end line to Emily LePage who connected for the finish. NEC would tack on two additional first half scores as Michaela Pomeroy would score in the 21st minute putting in a cross from Emily Gubbins. The fourth Pilgrim score would come in the 23rd as Jaycie Triandafilou tallied a goal off an assist from Rachel Thomas.
The Pilgrims would then find the back of the net five times in the second half, including two by Pomeroy, one off the foot of Emily LePage and a rebound by Emily Gubbins.
Johanna Sargent (West Brookfield, Vt.) recorded an impressive 19 saves in net for the Hornets.
Mackenzie Meegan made one save in net for the Pilgrims
The Hornets (2-8-1, 0-5-1 NAC) travel to Colby-Sawyer Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. start.
The Pilgrims (8-4-0, 4-0-0 NAC) host Johnson State College Sunday afternoon.
