The Hornets three seniors: Shelby Sheridan (Enosburg Falls), Miranda Chute (Brentwood, N.H.), and Marley Harmon (Buxton, Maine) were recognized for their years of service to the soccer squad before the start of the match-up.
The Badgers notched four goals within the first half. The first came at the 10:22 mark after a pass from Shannon Rooney (Waterville, Vt.), Hillary Ross (Highgate, Vt.) lobbed a shot over Johanna Sargent (West Brookfield, Vt.) squeezing right between her fingers and the cross bar. Two and a half minutes later Andrea Mercer (Naugatuck, Conn.) slipped a pass through to Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) who knocked a shot just to the right of Sargent. At the 27:43 mark Maddison Prescott (Topsham, Maine) received a through pass from Aleia Augsberger (Craftsbury Common, Vt.), then drilled the ball to the bottom right side. Aither finished off the half after a Sargent save deflected off her gloves allowing Aither the put back.
The rain continued to come down as the Badgers had the 4-0 advantage heading into the second half.
Aither completed a hat trick when she wasted no time getting past the Hornet defensive line at the 45:28 mark, drilling in her final goal of the game.
