Canton, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's soccer team entered Saturday's North Atlantic Conference match tied with SUNY Canton for the final playoff spot in the NAC conference tournament. 110 minutes later nothing was settled, as the Hornets and Roos remained tied following a scoreless overtime draw. That outcome leaves both teams at 1-3-1 in the conference standings with two NAC matches remaining. The Hornets are now 4-7-1 on the campaign, while Canton is 3-9-1 overall.
Canton outshot Lyndon 27-9 on the day. Hornet goalkeeper Lauren Young (Danville, VT) made 12 saves to keep the Roos off the scoreboard, while Jenny Ward and Allison Wakefield combined for the clean sheet for Canton. Kelsey Jacobs (Braintree, VT) and Jessica Hillman (Gardener, ME) accounted for the nine Lyndon shots, with seven and two respectively.
The Hornets will play their final home contest of the season on Monday afternoon when Norwich University comes to varsity field for a 3:30 pm kickoff. Lyndon will then decide their post-season fate when they travel to Husson University next Saturday and the University of Maine at Farmington on October 23rd for their final two NAC matches of the season.
