Castleton, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's tennis team was swept, 9-0, by Castleton University in the 2018 season opening match on Saturday.
Lyndon's 1st doubles team of Faibe Achinda (Hinesburg, VT) and Savannah Jackson (Barre, VT) came the closest to breaking through, as they lost to their counterparts from Castleton, Megan Nadler and Kirsten Kruk, 8-4. Jackson dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Nadler at first singles. The Hornets didn't take more than one game in any of the other seven flights.
Despite the loss Hornet head coach Laura Laramee remained optimistic: "All went well with lots of potential in the new players and returning players getting there game back."
Lyndon returns to the courts next Saturday, when they travel to Northern Vermont University-Johnson for a 12:00 noon non-conference match.
