South Hadley, MA - Abby Salvadore (Portsmouth, NH) took first place in the Javelin and the Discus on Saturday, highlighting the Lyndon State College women's track and field team's day at the Mount Holyoke College Spring Fling Invitational. As a team, the Hornets finished 8th in the 13 team field.
Salvadore set new school records in both Javelin and Discus with marks of 38.97 and 30.78 meters respectively. She also competed in Shot Put and placed 4th with a mark of 9.57 meters.
Jessica Hillman (Gardiner, ME) broke her own school record in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.71 meters, finishing in 5th. She also competed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, clocking times of 13.91 and 30.02 and finishing in 15th and 23rd place respectively.
Lyndon head coach Hayden Bunnell had these comments: "Jessica and Abby just keep improving and both have looked good so far this season. The important thing right now is to make those improvements and adjustments, so we can compete at our best in the NAC Championships in two weeks."
Next Saturday the Hornet women compete in the Trinity College Invitational. The meet begins at 10:00 am.
