Plymouth, NH - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's track and field team competed in the PSU Winter Classic at Plymouth State University on Saturday, finishing ninth with a total of five points. Division II Southern New Hampshire University won the meet with a total of 215 points.
Junior Jessica Hillman (Gardiner, ME) had a solid day by finishing seventh in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 11.09. She ran a faster time in the prelims with 10.72. She also finished 15th in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 8.79, and finished 27th in the 200 Meter Dash with a time 31.74.
Sophomore Rachel Valentine (Clarksdale, AZ) ran both the 400 and 800 Meter races. She finished 12th in the 400 Meter Race in a time of 1:13.18, and finished 7th in the 800 with a time of 2:55.96.
Freshman Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) ran the Mile in her first intercollegiate track competition. She finished 8th with a time of 6:08.22.
Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell was optimistic about his team's performance. "Overall it was a pretty solid day for all three women, especially this being a Non-Traditional Meet for us. I thought their performances were pretty good today."
The Hornets open their spring season at the Wesleyan University Spring Classic on March 23rd.
