Dartmouth, MA - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's track and field season began at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday. Junior Jessica Hillman (Gardiner, ME) and freshman Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) represented the Hornets, competing in two events each.
Hillman finished 34th of 73 entrants in the 100 meter dash, clocking a time of 14.33 seconds. She also took 15th of 37 entrants in the long jump with a distance of 4.58 meters. Prince finished 12th of 39 800 meter runners, crossing the finish line in 2:43.26, and 24th of 62 runners in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:31.48.
Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell was pleased with the initial outing. "Jessica and Zosia had good starts to the season today. There is definitely a lot stuff to work on, which is what I expected, but the potential is there and hopefully we can reach that next month."
Next weekend the Hornets will compete at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational at Fitchburg State University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
