LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The New Hampshire Technical Institute women's volleyball team survived a late Lyndon rally in the third set to record a 3-0 victory over the Hornets in an exhibition match held at Stannard Gymnasium.
The Lynx won the match by sets scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 26-24.
"Our passing was off tonight and offensively we didn't capitalize on our opportunities," said Hornet Head Coach Sean Fisher. "We had too many service and attack errors. It seemed like the team was tired tonight."
Kelleigh Murtagh (Merrimack, N.H.) led Lyndon with 10 kills, four blocked shots, one block assist while Laura Drake (hinsdale, Mass.) added five kills, nine digs and 10 assists. Gwyneth Stahl (Whitinsville, Mass.) collected five assists in the match for Lyndon while Joy Piper (Belmont, N.H.) had 11 digs and three blocks.
"Hopefully we can get back to where we were the next couple days of practice," said Fisher. "We weren't focused 100 percent tonight and that put us in a downhill slide in the second set we couldn't recover form. This weekend we'll be facing better teams and I am hoping we can comeback from this and win a match or two this weekend."
Lyndon returns to the court Saturday when it faces the University of Maine at Fort Kent in a tri-match held at the Massachusetts College of Liberal arts in North Adams, Mass. The Hornets first match gets underway at 1 p.m.
