Johnson, VT - The Lyndon State College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a North Atlantic Conference quad match at Johnson State College. The Hornets fell to Maine Maritime Academy (11-7, 1-0) 25-4, 25-6, 25-10, and to Husson University (11-8, 2-0) 25-7, 25-11, 25-6. The losses leave the Hornets with a record of 1-10 overall and 1-2 in NAC play.
The Mariners dominated all three sets of the opening match, opening up leads of 13-2, 15-1, and 14-2 at the start of each set. Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, NY) had a big day for Maine Maritime, picking up 13 kills. Sydney Adams (Trumbull, CT recorded 28 assists and three digs. For Lyndon, Faith Richard (Achshnet, MA) picked up a pair of kills.
Unfortunately for the Hornets, the results against Husson weren't much better, as Lyndon again found itself down big early in each set. Husson displayed a diverse attack, as Mary Grace Power (Bellerose Village, NY) picked up nine kills and four different Eagles each recorded five kills. Hanna Hembrow (Milford, NH) had 13 assists.
Lyndon returns to the court on Tuesday evening, when they travel back to Johnson to take on the Badgers in a match that was rescheduled from September 1st. The Hornets return home on Thursday evening to face the College of St. Joseph in a pair of matches. Maine Maritime will play at the Univerity of New England next Saturday, while Husson hosts Colby College on Wednesday.
