Castleton, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 defeats at Saturday's quad match hosted by Castleton University. In their opening match the Hornets fell to Bay Path University. They then dropped a contest to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Bay Path and MCLA moved to 1-2 and 4-3 respectively, while the Hornets are winless in eight starts.
Bay Path 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-13)
The Wildcats controlled the match throughout, cruising to wins in each set. Shaniqua Thompson led Bay Path with seven kills, while Latonia Hornsby recorded 12 assists and Joanne Nazario notched 11 digs. Samantha Theriault (West Ossippee, NH) had four digs for the Hornets while Faith Richard (Acushnet, MA) posted four kills.
MCLA 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-17)
MCLA also maintained comfortable margins throughout the match. Alyssa Keegan had ten kills and Regan Scattergood had 19 digs for the Trailblazers. Alexis Britch (Essex Junction, VT) recorded seven digs, while Richard again posted four kills for the Hornets.
Lyndon's next match will be the home opener next Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium. the Hornets will face Northern Vermont University-Johnson in the third of six matches scheduled between the two NVU campuses.
