Johnson, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team traveled to NVU-Johnson for a quad match on Saturday. The Hornets opened play with a North Atlantic Conference matchup against the University of Maine at Presque Isle and dropped a 3-0 decision. Next, they faced the University of Maine at Fort Kent in a non-conference contest and again fell 3-0. UMPI and UMFK also picked up vicotries over the host Johnson Badgers in the day's other matches. The Hornets remain winless on the season and are 0-3 in NAC play. UMPI improves to 9-15 overall and 2-1 in conference, while Johnson falls to 9-10 and 0-3. UMFK, an NAIA school, is now 23-4 on the season.
UMaine-Presque Isle 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-7)
The Owls cruised to victories in all three sets. Devine Hoskie led UMPI with eight kills and 12 digs while Laura Aroz recorded 19 assists. For the Hornets, Kiya DeWitt (Pittsburg, NH) had a pair of kills and six digs. Lexie Walker (Groton, CT) had two assists.
UMaine-Fort Kent 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-6)
The Bengals won all three sets in comfortable fashion. Luse Lumas had eight kills for UFMK and Beatriz Garrido totaled 12 assists. Emily Clancy (Durham, CT) led Lyndon with three kills and eight digs. Walker totaled 12 digs.
The Hornets will play their final home match of the season on Wednesday evening when Green Mountain College visits Stannard Gymnasium for a 7:00 pm matchup.
