SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Lyndon women's cross country team established a number of personal best times as they raced to a 19th place finish (27 total schools) at the annual Western New England University Invitational on Saturday.
"The women took advantage of perfect race conditions and executed the race plan, which was to get out fast and be aggressive at the beginning of the race," said Hornet head coach Chris Ummer. "This race was definitely a best performance for a number of the women. Those efforts are excellent preparation for the NAC Championships in two weeks."
Leading the way for the Hornets was senior Sierra Hargrave (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) in a personal best time of 21:36 for 54th place overall (242 total runners). Hargrave was followed by sophomore Anna Gear (Fort Myers, Fla.) with another personal best of 23:23 for 121st place, while senior Sydney Kipp (Bennington, Vt.) nabbed 215th place in 28:01.
The Hornet's next race is on Saturday, October 29th at the NAC Championships held at Johnson State College.
