New Orleans, LA - The Lyndon State College women's cross country team has been named as a 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Hornets earned the distinction on the strength of their team cumulative grade point average of 3.5. This marks the seventh time in the last eight years that the Hornets have been named an All-Academic Team.
For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
Overall, there were 388 teams honored by the USTFCCCA. Of those teams, 221 of them were women's programs and 167 of them were men's programs. Johns Hopkins University and North Central College were named the Division III Women's and Men's Scholar Teams of the Year respectively.
