Belfast, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team notched a fourth place finish at the Mariner Invitational on Saturday.  The 5K rce was hosted by Maine Maritime Academy and held at Troy Howard Middle School.  The Hornets were led by freshman standout Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) who covered the 5K course in 22:14 for 6th place overall (48 total runners).  Prince was followed by sophomore Rachal Peatman (Cambridge, VT) with a 14th place finish in 23:43 and fellow sophomore Rachel Valentine (Clarkdale, AR) in 25th place in 25:03.  Senior Alesha Donovan (Northwood, NH) finished in 26th place and junior Isabelle Tuggle (Norwich, VT) finished 27th to complete the scoring for the Hornets.

"The women put in solid efforts today." said Hornet Head Coach Chris Ummer.  "The goal of this weekend was to preview the conference championship course and measure ourselves against the rest of the conference teams.  We accomplished that and know what we need to do to close the gap with the top teams.  Zosia had a particularly good race pacing the team and Izzy Tuggle notched a personal best with her the of 25:21.  All in all I'm pleased with what I saw today."

The Hornets will next be in action on September 15th when they compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in Dartmouth, MA.  Race time is 11:15 am.
