Dartmouth, MA - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team competed in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. The field consisted of over 40 Division II & III teams. Under warm and humid conditions the Hornets were led by freshman standout Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) in a time of 21:21 over the 3.17 mile course. Prince was followed by Rachal Peatman (Cambridge, VT) in a time of 24:03, while Rachel Valentine (Clarkdale, AZ) clocked a 24:47. Junior Isabelle Tuggle (Norwich, VT) ran fourth for the Hornets with a time of 25:11 and Sarah Levesque (North Smithfield, RI) completed the scoring with a time of 30:11.
"We dealt with few nagging injuries today, but also had solid performances out of Zosia, Izzy, and Sarah. said Hornet head Coach Ummer. "Zosia continues to improve each week as she builds her fitness, while Izzy notched another PR for the second consecutive week. We'll use the next week to get healthy for the Vermont state meet at the end of the month."
The Hornets will next be in action on September 29th when they host the Vermont State Intercollegiate Championships at Lyndon.
