Prince and Valentine have strong races at WNE Invitational

Springfield, MA - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team competed at the annual Western New England University Invitational on Saturday.  The Hornets were led by freshman standout Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT), who completed the soggy 6K course in a time of 25:05, good for 36th place overall out of 122 competitors.  Prince was followed by sophomore Rachel Valentine (Clarkdale, AZ), who finished with a time of 27:31.  Valentine was followed by Isabelle Tuggle (Norwich, VT), who finished in 31:23, and Sarah Levesque (North Smithfield, RI), who finished in 33:53.

"Similar to the men, the ladies have been hit with injury or illness and clearly haven't been at their best the last few weeks," stated Hornet Coach Chris Ummer.  "It was promising to see a few of  them run well.  Zosia and Rachel (personal best) had very solid races.  Our biggest challenge right now however is to get everyone healthy."

The Hornets will race next Sunday, October 28th at the North Atlantic Conference Championships, held at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, ME.  Race time is set for 11:00 am.
